Fear and Investing in 2020

I believe one of the defining words of 2020 is fear. And like Stephen King’s monster IT, the media feeds on fear. The curators of media (traditional and social) know that fear, uncertainty, and doubt “FUD” drives viewership and earnings. Politics and a pandemic have delivered a cornucopia of FUD for all media outlets creating an environment of near panic in America.

As asset managers we know that fear can drive investors into bad emotional decisions. As humans we will always be tempted by fear to make choices that are not in our best interest. So, how do we manage fear daily to have a better future for ourselves?

To answer that question, I did a short video interview with Mo Brossette. Mo is a Keynote Speaker on Fear and is an expert on human behavior. Click Here for Video

Mo is the Director of Mindset at The Adaptive Training Foundation, a Dallas based non-profit that leads disabled military veterans and civilians through a 9-week mental and physical training program called “Redefine”. Through this unique program, Mo helps these adaptive athletes overcome physical, emotional and mental pain, fear, and self-doubt.

If you’re in the giving spirit, please consider The Adaptive Training Foundation for a gift of support. Their programs are 100% free. Also, if you’d like to learn more about having a healthy relationship with fear, please visit Mo Brossette’s company Hunt & Prosper to learn more.

We have had many more “fear” based calls and meetings this year than is typical. I hope you will take some time to view the video. If you have any questions about how our asset management philosophy can help your fear level, please reach out to us. We’d love to hear from you.
